Welcome back to work, for all of those like me that were off yesterday for the Fourth. I came back to this:

That’s probably not too bad. In my experience, if the disk is working well enough to ask for a disk check, there’s usually no major problems. It’s when it’s not detected at all that the fun starts.

Very considerate of your computer to give you some time to make a cuppa before real work starts. You should be grateful for it.

Looks like it's time to go home and go back to bed.

Just had this happen on my work computer a week ago. 30mins later it was back up and running.
Gotta love it when other workers let their kids play on your computer.....

I arrived to a blinking monitor, so I disconnect everything and redo it - then the other goes blank so I disconnect and reconnect it, now it seems to be OK. Also there’s someone here who sounds like they have TB and are coughing likely without covering their mouth, and another eating something smelly out of a metal bowl, yay people!

Seriously. Who puts computers with spinning disks in them on employee desks anymore. I don’t think I’ve bought a desktop with one for any employer in at least 10 years.

I decided in my infinite wisdom to upgrade from Linux Mint 18.3 to Linux Mint 19 last night as Mint 19 just came out a few days ago. I have done 2-3 such major upgrades to Linux Mint like this in the past with no issues whatsoever...so decided to do it without taking a system snapshot first.
Off course this is the time everything gets screwed up...and I have no system snapshot....so my day so far is reinstalling all my crap and files.
Woo.
